Cristo Redentor | Christ the Redeemer

This is Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) statue in Rio de Janeiro. It stands upon Corcovado mountain overlooking the beautiful city & seascape. One of the new wonders of the world, however more amazing than the structure is the view. Definitely the most breathtaking place I have ever been. This statue is represents the Catholic faith of many Brazilians. over 70% would profess to be Catholic, followed by 15% Protestant. It is said that the statue can be seen from every area of the city of 11,000,000.

Brewing Storm

Yesterday I saw a couple friends from High School as we were all back in Nova Scotia, Canada visiting family (except the one who never left). We decided to go visit Peggy's Cove....Peggy's Cove is cold & windy in the summer time...it was murder when we were there. I didn't take too many pictures as I couldnt feel my fingers among other numb body parts as the wind ripped through my spring jacket. Our only shelter from the wind was when we climbed into a rock crevice where it protected us from the wind. It reminds me of Psalm 18:2 "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold" I was powerless on my own to fight the cold wind, no matter how much I tried to be warm. Botafogo Boy | Menino do Botafogo

I was up early in the morning to catch the sunrise coming up over Botafogo bay in Rio when this kid woke up from sleeping underneath the boat I was by. Though the standard of living has increased dramatically in over the past decade in Brasil, many kids such as this are caught in a trap of poverty with parents who cannot provide and are hostage to drugs & alcohol. One organization who has taken the problem seriously is C.A.R.F. You can view photos & testimonies of their workers on their flickr page.
